Appointment of Justice Ranjan Gogoi as Chief Justice of India.
As per Article 124 of The Constitution of India, and the convention of recommendations by incumbent chief Justice of India,The President of India Ram Nath Kovind has appointed Justice Ranjan Gogoi as the 46th Chief Justice of India. He will assume the office of chief justice on 3rd October,2018.
About Justice Gogoi.
Justice Ranjan Gogoi , at present is the senior most judge of The Supreme Court of India and now he will become the 46th Chief Justice of India after the retirement of CJI Deepak Mishra. He will have the tenure from October 3rd ,2018 to November 17,2019.
Justice Gogoi was appointed as judge in the Supreme Court of India on 23 April, 2012.He started his practice at the Gauhati High Court where he was appointed as judge on February 28, 2001.He was transferred to Punjab and haryana High Court on September 9.2010 and became Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court on February 12,2011. He was elevated as Judge of Supreme Court on 23rd April, 2012.
